本イベントについて｜About the Event
2011年3月11日。
東日本大震災は、多くの尊い命と、かけがえのない日常を奪いました。
震災以降、主催者・鈴木ナオミは
「音楽の力で、被災地に寄り添い続けたい」という想いのもと、
英国と日本を拠点に、支援活動と文化交流を続けてきました。
2015年には、英日議員連盟の支援のもと、
英国国会議事堂にて東日本大震災メモリアルイベントを開催。
震災の記憶と、日本への祈りを英国から発信してきました。
そして2026年。
震災から15年という節目にあたり、本イベント 「Echoes of Hope」 は、
3.11の追悼にとどまらず、これまでに起こったさまざまな災害の犠牲者に祈りを捧げ、
今も世界各地で続く悲しみや争いに思いを寄せながら、
「支え合う心」「共にある心」を、世界の平和へとつなげていくことを目的として開催されます。
音楽と朗読を通じて、過去を悼み、今を見つめ、未来へ希望を響かせる。
本公演は、日英の友情と国際連帯を世界へ発信する、平和文化イベントです。

The Great East Japan Earthquake claimed many precious lives and took away irreplaceable daily routines.
Since the disaster, organiser Naomi Suzuki has continued relief efforts and cultural exchange activities based in both the UK and Japan, driven by the desire to ‘stay close to the affected areas through the power of music’.
In 2015, with the support of the UK-Japan Parliamentary Association,
a Great East Japan Earthquake Memorial Event was held at the UK Houses of Parliament.
From Britain, memories of the disaster and prayers for Japan were shared.
And now, in 2026.
Marking the 15th anniversary of the disaster, this event, ‘Echoes of Hope’,
goes beyond commemorating 3.11. It offers prayers for the victims of all disasters that have occurred,
while reflecting on the sorrow and conflict still ongoing around the world.
Its purpose is to connect the spirit of mutual support and shared compassion towards world peace.
Through music and spoken word, we mourn the past, contemplate the present, and resonate hope for the future.
This performance is a cultural event for peace, broadcasting Japanese-British friendship and international solidarity to the world.

This event aims, through the power of music, recitation, and shared empathy, to:
・Convey the memories and lessons of the Great East Japan Earthquake
・Express gratitude to all those who dedicated themselves to reconstruction
・Share preparations for future disasters
・Send forth prayers for world peace.
It seeks to transform not only the “grief” of the disaster, but also the hope, regeneration, and connections born from it, into a message of peace for the future.

実話をもとにした短編小説の朗読劇と、ピアノの生演奏によるステージ。
物語は、東日本大震災当時3歳で最愛の姉を亡くした少女のもとに、亡くなった姉が夢の中に現れ、妹を励まし、希望ある未来へと導いていく姿を描いています。この物語の原作は、当時少女だった 佐藤珠莉さん 自身によるものです。震災の記憶と、そこから生まれた想いが、言葉として紡がれています。
脚本を手がけるのは、日本を代表する映画監督・山本透。珠莉さんの作品に込められた静かな強さと可能性に深く共感し、本朗読を通じて、その表現と夢を次の一歩へとつなげたいという想いのもと、本プログラムが実現しました。ピアノの生演奏が情景や感情を繊細に彩り、言葉と音楽が重なり合うことで、観る者の心に静かに、そして力強く「生き続けることの大切さ」と「希望を託すこと」を届けます。
この朗読は、追悼のためだけの時間ではなく、ひとつの物語が未来へ羽ばたいていく、その始まりの場でもあります。
脚本は、日本を代表する映画監督・山本透監督と、原作の 佐藤珠莉さん が共同で担当します。
山本透監督は、「東京ラブストーリー」「永遠のゼロ」など数々の話題作を手がけ、現在はNetflixで注目を集める連続ドラマ 「イクサガミ」 の監督も務めています。また、代表作のひとつである映画 「有り、触れた、未来」 では、生きづらさを抱える子どもたちに向けて「人は支え合い、つながりの中で生きていく存在である」というメッセージを描き、多くの共感を呼びました。
本朗読作品においても、その一貫したまなざしと表現力が、原作に込められた想いを丁寧にすくい上げています。
A stage production featuring a live piano accompaniment and a reading of a short story based on a true account.
The narrative depicts a young girl, aged three at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake, who lost her beloved elder sister. Her deceased sister appears to her in dreams, offering encouragement and guiding her towards a hopeful future. The original story was written by Satō Juri herself, who was the girl at the time. Memories of the disaster and the emotions born from them are woven into words.
The script is penned by Toru Yamamoto, one of Japan's leading film directors. Deeply moved by the quiet strength and potential contained within Satoh's work, he wished to use this reading to connect her expression and dreams to the next step. This programme was realised from that desire. Live piano accompaniment delicately colours the scenes and emotions. As words and music intertwine, they quietly yet powerfully convey to the audience the profound importance of enduring life and the act of entrusting hope.
This reading is not merely a time for remembrance; it is also the starting point where a story takes flight towards the future.
The screenplay is co-written by renowned Japanese film director Toru Yamamoto and the original author, Juri Sato.
Director Toru Yamamoto has helmed numerous acclaimed works including Tokyo Love Story and Eien no Zero, and currently directs the Netflix series Ikusagaami, which is attracting significant attention. Furthermore, in one of his representative works, the film ‘The Future We Touched’, he depicted the message ‘People are beings who live by supporting one another and through connection’ for children struggling with life, resonating deeply with many.
In this audio drama adaptation too, his consistent perspective and expressive power carefully capture the sentiments embedded within the original work.

東日本大震災当時、3歳。3つ年上の最愛の姉・愛梨さんを震災で失う。後に姉の遺体が見つかった場所には、真っ白い花（マーガレット）が咲いていたという。
その記憶を胸に、珠莉さんは大好きな姉を想いながらマーガレットを育て、命の大切さを世界に伝える「アイリンブループロジェクト」に参加。
短編小説の発表や写真展の開催など、震災の記憶を風化させないための活動を継続して行ってきた。
震災から15年。18歳となり大学生となった現在、姉への変わらぬ愛情と、未来への願いを込めて、短編小説『糸電話』を執筆。
Original Novel: Satō Juri
At the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake, she was three years old. She lost her beloved elder sister, Airi, who was three years her senior, in the disaster. It is said that pure white flowers (daisies) bloomed where her sister's body was later found.
Carrying that memory in her heart, Juri nurtured daisies while thinking of her beloved sister and joined the “Airin Blue Project”, which conveys the preciousness of life to the world.
She has continued activities to prevent the memories of the disaster from fading, such as publishing short stories and holding photo exhibitions.
Fifteen years after the disaster. Now aged 18 and a university student, she wrote the short story “String Telephone”, imbued with her unchanging love for her sister and her hopes for the future.

東京大学文学部卒業後、音楽座ミュージカル、劇団四季を経て、文化庁新進芸術家海外研修員としてロンドン・NYで研鑽を積む。Arts Educational Schools Londonにて演出の修士号を取得。英国・米国・日本を拠点に、文化を越境し融合させる舞台芸術をテーマに活動。 『Urinetown』『Galaxy Train』『Tell Me On A Sunday』『The View Upstairs』など国内外で高い評価を受ける演出作品多数。 翻訳・訳詞家としても多くのミュージカルに携わり、『The View Upstairs』で小田島雄志・翻訳戯曲賞を受賞。
Director: Yojiro Ichikawa
After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at the University of Tokyo, he worked with Ongakuza Musical and Shiki Theatre Company before undertaking overseas training in London and New York as a Cultural Affairs Agency Overseas Training Fellow for Emerging Artists. He obtained a Master's degree in Directing from the Arts Educational Schools London. Based in the UK, US and Japan, his work centres on stage arts that transcend and fuse cultures. His acclaimed productions include Urinetown, Galaxy Train, Tell Me On A Sunday and The View Upstairs, receiving high praise both domestically and internationally. As a translator and lyricist for numerous musicals, he won the Oda Shima Yushi Translation Award for The View Upstairs.

Orchestra & Voices of Hope
オーケストラ伴奏のもと、復興支援のために生まれた楽曲や、希望をテーマにした歌を、英国在住の日本にゆかりのある子どもたちと、英国在住の歌手が共に、鈴木ナオミを中心として歌い上げます。
日本クラブ女声合唱団グリーンコーラス、チェルシーこどものひろば、ユニバーサル・ヤングスターズ、金井美恵子をはじめとする出演者が参加し、世代や背景を越えた歌声を響かせます。
朗読劇の原作者である佐藤珠莉さんが、白い花（マーガレット）を育てることで命の大切さを世界に伝える活動を続けていることに深く共感し、本ステージでは、その想いを分かち合う象徴として、子どもたちやシンガーがマーガレットを手にして歌唱します。
演奏予定曲は、

「イマジン(Imagine)」
「花は咲く（Hana ha Saku）」ほか、
希望と祈りをテーマにした楽曲を予定しています。
Against an orchestral accompaniment, children with ties to Japan living in the UK and singers residing in the UK, led by Naomi Suzuki, will perform songs created to support reconstruction efforts and songs themed around hope.
Performers including the Nippon Club Women’s Choir The Green Chorus,Chelsea Kodomo no Hiroba, Universal Young Stars, Mieko Kanai and others.
Deeply moved by the work of Juri Sato, author of the original story for the recital, who continues to convey the importance of life to the world through her cultivation of white flowers (marguerites), the children and singers will hold marguerites in their hands as they sing on stage, symbolising their shared feelings.

震災後、福島の復興に尽力された 故・満山喜郎氏 の歩みと想いを、映像を通じて振り返る特別セクションです。
被災地に寄り添い続けたその活動や、人々との関わりを記録した映像を通して、支援の記憶と志を、次の世代へと静かに受け渡していきます。
This special section revisits the journey and aspirations of the late Yoshiro Mitsuyama, who dedicated himself to Fukushima's recovery following the disaster, through film.
Through footage documenting his sustained efforts alongside the affected communities and his interactions with people, we quietly pass on the memory and spirit of this support to the next generation.

A UK-based producer and singer who works internationally to connect Japan and the UK through music and the arts. Since 2011, she has led over 100 charity concerts worldwide and produced major international cultural events.
MC：Rin
日本とイギリスにルーツを持つコンテンツクリエイター兼俳優。元イギリス代表のオリンピック新体操選手。2011年の東日本大震災以降、日本を支援する文化・コミュニティイベントに関わり、日英の架け橋となる活動を続けている。
Rin is a half-Japanese, half-British content creator and actor, and a former Olympic rhythmic gymnast for Team GB. She has been involved in cultural and community events supporting Japan since the 2011 earthquake, and is passionate about connecting Japanese and British cultures through her work.

ノンバイナリークィア俳優、アーティスト。2023年に世界的俳優を目指し渡英。フィジカルシアターではASSITEJ 国際児童青少年舞台芸術協会のプロジェクトに参加しノルウェー、クロアチアで創作、公演を経験。
Asahi Adachihara is a non-binary queer actor and artist who moved to the UK in 2023 to pursue an international acting career. They have worked in physical theatre through an ASSITEJ project, creating and performing in Norway and Croatia.

1991年生まれ、宮崎県都城市出身。3歳よりピアノを始め、18歳でジャズに出会う。福岡を拠点に九州各地で演奏活動を行い、ビッグバンド「Advanced Music Gallery」のピアニストとして、TOKU氏の作品やツアーに参加。
Born in 1991 in Miyakonojo, Miyazaki Prefecture, she began playing the piano at the age of three and discovered jazz at eighteen.
Based in Fukuoka, she performed extensively across Kyushu and was a pianist for the big band Advanced Music Gallery, taking part in recordings and tours with vocalist and flugelhorn player TOKU.

2020年、コロナ禍の中で結成されたオーケストラ。多様な背景を持つ音楽家が集い、演奏を通して癒しとつながり、そして音楽の喜びを届けることを大切にしている。

Nippon Club Women’s Choir The Green Chorus
グリーンコーラスは歌が好きな人たちが集まり、ロンドンで40年近く活動を続ける女声合唱団。年一回の定期演奏会の他、季節のコンサート、日本関連イベント、ボランティア活動、サウスバンクセンターの音楽祭など、様々な演奏活動を続けている。
Green Chorus is a women's choir formed by people who love singing, and has been active in London for nearly 40 years. In addition to their annual concert, they continue to perform in various events such as seasonal concerts, Japan-related events, volunteer activities, and the Southbank Centre's music festival.

Alongside disaster relief efforts, she has been involved in international aid work for Nepal, Tonga, Ukraine and others, receiving the International Friendship Award – Expert of the Year from the Government of Nepal.
